The January 2026 bushfires significantly impacted the Ruffy township, including the Tablelands Community Centre (TCC) and Ruffy Recreation Reserve (Maygar Park).
In line with Capire’s commitment to make a positive impact for our communities and our clients, we provided Strathbogie Shire Council (Council) with pro bono support to engage with the Ruffy community to plan for the town’s future community infrastructure needs.
Capire designed, facilitated and reported on a community workshop on Sunday 14 June 2026. The workshop brought together community members, including the TCC Committee and Ruffy Recreation Reserve Management Committee, to explore community needs, aspirations and priorities for Ruffy community infrastructure now and in the future.
The workshop also enabled Council to set clear expectations regarding community infrastructure planning and delivery, while starting to explore opportunities for shared ownership of community infrastructure.
The workshop outcomes will inform future Council decisions and the preparation of project briefs that reflect the community’s priorities for new infrastructure as insurance money is confirmed.
