Capire is one of the in-house engagement and communications partners to VicGrid, the Victorian Government’s agency for transmission planning and coordination. Over the past three years, Capire and its partners have worked alongside VicGrid to plan and deliver community engagement for Offshore Wind Transmission across the Gippsland and South West Victoria regions.
We have developed and implemented annual strategic engagement roadmaps for this project, providing the content, materials, workforce, capability uplift and coordination. Moreover, we have helped deliver key results, such as minimising local opposition to the project study area for the transmission connection between the offshore wind energy zone and existing transmission infrastructure in the Latrobe Valley. While local landowners prefer undergrounding infrastructure, the approach to consultation and ultimately infrastructure locations have been well received.
In addition to the strategic engagement roadmaps, Capire and its partners have provided ongoing strategic advice and support for communications development to support a range of issues impacting VicGrid’s broader operational licence. Capire continues to provide VicGrid with strategic advice and ongoing capacity and capability building.
Victorian Transmission Plan
Building upon work in the Gippsland Offshore Wind Transmission area, Capire and partners have worked closely with VicGrid’s policy and regulation group to deliver engagement planning, analysis and reporting for the state’s inaugural Victorian Transmission Plan. Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team, Capire developed plain language versions for the Victorian Transmission Plan guidelines and provided strategic support and guidance in the delivery of community and industry scale engagement.
Utilising our experience delivering engagement for Offshore Wind Transmission, Capire helped VicGrid connect the dots with a vision for ongoing stakeholder and community consultation in the design and development process for the Victorian Transmission Plan.
