Learning Lab: Intersectionality and Engagement

Recorded 19/04/2023

Sarah Roberts from Capire, chats with Monica Forson from the Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission. They discuss the current state and future directions of intersectionality, what it looks like in a community engagement context and provide tips to enable more engagement opportunities.

Some of the key takeaways from the session include:

  • Diverse people not homogenous – we need to make sure we’re understanding intra-group nuances
  • Genuine and authentic engagement with communities takes time, energy and commitment – particularly when there is historical distrust
