Capire worked with the Tasmanian Government to support community engagement for the Future of Local Government Review. This review, commissioned by the Local Government Board, aimed to examine the role, function and design of local government in Tasmania to create a more robust and capable system for all Tasmanians.
Capire brought our engagement expertise to this important project, ensuring that the voices of diverse Tasmanians were heard. We ran pop-up sessions in public spaces and community workshops across the state, inviting locals to share their thoughts on the current state of local councils and their ideas for the future. Pop-ups proved an effective way to reach community members who might not otherwise participate in formal consultation processes. Community workshops created the opportunity for deeper discussions.
Over the course of the project, we engaged with more than 600 Tasmanians and distributed almost 1,000 postcards and badges across 20 locations, including Hobart, Launceston, Campbell Town, Strahan, Bicheno and Devonport.
