Capire has supported many clients to analyse engagement data and prepare and review engagement reports as a standalone service. This support has been sought either due to the need for independent analysis, peer review or constrained internal capacity.
Some of the challenges our clients often face with managing engagement data and reporting are:
• The overall volume of data they have received. The quality, or level of detail received, was above what was expected.
• How to treat qualitative engagement findings. Often clients need to still be able to quantify qualitative data whether they might be to calculate different sentiments, ideas or themes.
• How to maximise the usability of the data. While engagement reports are great tools for summarising engagement data there is often still great value in being able to explore the data in more detail. It is therefore important to be able to collate the data in a way that other team members can sort and find data that might be specific to their project needs.
Below are some examples of where we have supported our clients with this work.
Bellarine Basin Engagement, Barwon Water – Capire collaboratively developed the engagement report with Barwon Water. Capire focused on the analysis and findings section of the report.
Northcote Public Golf Course Engagement, Darebin City Council – Capire collated and coded around 7,000 survey responses. Our approach included preparing a coding framework that was reviewed by the client and used to analyse the data. A report was then prepared to support Council’s decision-making around the future use of the site.
Land Use Planning Framework Consultation, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning – Capire’s services included the preparation of a robust coding framework and the development of a coded database of all engagement data. Around 460 submissions were analysed, and a series of place-based reports were prepared.
Engagement Report Peer Review, Parks Victoria – Capire’s review included an objective assessment of the engagement approach and methodology; data collection, management and analysis; and accuracy and consistency of the reporting.
