Wannon Water is a water authority located in the south-west of Victoria servicing a diverse area of over 25,000 square kilometres. Wannon Water is widely respected for delivering water and sewerage infrastructure and services. Building on this work, Wannon Water looked to strengthen its community and stakeholder engagement through an organisational change process and create a new community engagement framework.
Between November 2016 and September 2017, Capire worked with Wannon Water to co-author a community engagement framework and provide implementation support with a training program. Over a series of visits, Capire conducted interviews and interactive workshops that supported staff to contribute to the development of the framework. Capire created a toolkit to support staff to use the framework in their internal and external engagement processes. Capire designed and delivered four immersive training modules that brought the framework to life by enabling staff to test and use it in case studies. Wannon Water has formally adopted the framework and continues to implement sector leading community engagement.
