Community and Stakeholder Engagement Audit

Office of the Co-ordinator General, Major Transport Infrastructure Project

The Office of the Co-ordinator General (OCG) was responsible for overseeing every major Victorian transport infrastructure project. Each project was led by an authority which had been established with a remit to oversee the design and delivery of the project. Each authority has its own community and stakeholder relations functions which are working across metropolitan Melbourne and parts of regional Victoria.

The OCG engaged Capire to undertake an audit of the community and stakeholder relations teams, policies and projects using a mixed methodology of desktop research, interviews, workshops and observations of engagement events. The results of the audit found there is leading practice community and stakeholder consultation occurring within each of the authorities and this could be strengthened through greater consistency of approach across all organisations. Capire prepared a report providing 19 recommendations of which 18 have been adopted by the OCG.

Note, as of late 2018 the OCG is now part of the Major Transport Infrastructure Program (MTIP) and each authority is a team within the MTIP.
